Senate Corner
Dearest Calvin Students,
Our minds were ``in the making'' this week as we successfully made it through our third week of second semester. They always say, ``no pain, no gain!'' This can definitely be said as syllabi are being fully utilized. That which seemed like we had an eternity to complete continues to creep closer. Enough scary thoughts! The days are crisp and beautiful and God is great! He was there when the projects were assigned. He'll be there at 3 a.m. the night before they're due. Stay focused and stay persistent. Keep calm and keep going. Have fun!
Speaking of persistence and even some fun, your Student Senate has also been hard at work for you this last week as we organize projects that will benefit the student body. As a senior I know I will miss those Calvin must do's like Airband and the Big Calvin/Hope rivalry. We really hope you enjoyed the amazing Airband show that the Airband committee planned for you. I especially enjoyed the People's choice award winner, President Gaylen Byker! If you missed this, you missed an amazing act. Congratulations to the Men's basketball team for the big win over Hope! First year students, sophomores, and juniors don't forget to enjoy every minute God gives you here.
Also, don't forget that we will continue to have Sunday PE hours from 2-5 p.m. until Spring Break. If you are going away for this much celebrated holiday, please be sure to check out the Ride Board located on KnightVision to save some gas and save some cash!
We are also starting to take on some new projects for the upcoming months but would still love to hear from you, so e-mail us at senate@calvin.edu. We have been carefully analyzing the exemption policy on the requirement of professors sending their children to Christian Schools. If you have any comments or suggestions on this issue, we would greatly appreciate your questions and comments.
As you all know the Student Senate Vice President resigned about two weeks ago. It is not easy losing someone so valuable. We are wholly and totally depending on the guidance of God to help us find a new person. We are having interviews on Friday and will make our final decision on a new person by Monday, February 18, 2002.
