Liberal Leadership Race Heats Up

Responding to allegations of possible racism and downright elitism, Finance Minister Paul Martin, frontrunner in the unofficial Liberal leadership race, blasted Alan Rock for questioning the integrity of supporters in the Martin leadership bid. The Finance Minister claimed that this was the worst kind of politics- destructive and impersonal, surprising pundits with the strength of his reaction to the escalating war of words over the distribution of mass membership sign-up cards. The clash between Martin and Rock is only the latest incident in the ongoing jockeying for position that has divided cabinet and led to the resignation of the popular former cabinet minister Brian Tobin.
