Calvin trounces Hope in 74-70 thriller
Dan Gable, an Olympic gold medal wrestler, once said something along the lines of, “When one person thinks they’re going to lose, then they’re going to lose. Calvin women defeat St. Mary's
Victory simply requires doing what needs to be done. That’s a mantra easier said than done, right? Not for the Calvin women’s basketball team. Swim teams steady on
The results were mixed for the Calvin men’s and women’s swimming teams last weekend after they competed in meets at home and on the road. The contests on Friday were held at Bergsma Natatorium and despite the advantage of swimming in their home pool, both of Calvin’s teams were narrowly defeated by Grand Valley. The men were beaten by a score of 120-115 and the women lost 131-112, despite some fine individual performances by several Calvin swimmers which resulted in six individual first place finishes for both the men and the women.

Calvin Game of the Week
Coming off an exhilarating week, Calvin’s men and women’s swim teams look to continue their fairy tale success come Saturday when they travel to Hope, taking on both Hope and Kalamazoo. With fairy tales, anything can happen. The second oldest Calvin swim record can even be broken, like it was last weekend at the hands and feet of freshman swimmer Abby Johnson, who now holds the 100m butterfly time of 59.57.
