| Senate Corner so we’re okay we’re fine…
Welcome to second semester everyone! I hope that it turns out to be a good one for you. For some, like me, it’s your last semester here. It’s amazing how there can be such relief and such terror in one simple idea. Enjoy this time. Revel in it. Even if it’s not your last semester here, fill your time with memories and have fun. Work hard and play hard.
Student Senate has been doing a little bit of both—we’ve worked hard this past week and we played a little bit along the way. We successfully completed another booksale. Thanks to each of you who came out and sold books and to those of you who bought books. We’re always impressed by the number of people who participate, and we appreciate all the enthusiasm and dedication that people show. It makes all the hours of work seem worthwhile when we come down in the morning and see people sleeping on the stairs, waiting for the sale to begin. Thanks for the entertainment and support. We’re still discussing what charity to donate our proceeds to, so if you have a great idea, email us at ssenate@calvin.edu.
We have a few projects that we completed over interim that we didn’t tell you about, so here comes the official update. We purchased several left-handed desks for North Hall. Granted, this may not seem like a big deal, but if you’re left-handed, well, maybe you’ll appreciate it. Our biggest and most exciting event over interim was the unveiling of Cal, our new mascot. He made his first appearance at the men’s Calvin-Hope basketball game, and he’ll be appearing a few more times throughout the semester. Let us know what you think of the mascot—ssenate@calvin.edu.
That’s a little bit of what we’ve been doing over interim and in our first week of spring semester. We’ve got several projects lined up for this semester, including a repeat of midnight snacks and a few other fun surprises along the way. Get excited.
For your social life, go to Airband tonight and enjoy yourself. Congratulate the co-chairs and the Airband committee on a fine job. Great work guys. And finally, as always, if you know the title and artist of the song at the beginning of this article email senatevp@calvin.edu and perhaps win five bucks. We do what we can to entertain. Peace to you all as you begin another semester.
