| Dance, baby. Dance! By Shaun Booth A&E Editor This Friday after Dance Guild Calvin students will have the unique opportunity to attend a dance deejayed by professional DJs. It will be a non-commercial event that will expose the Calvin community to a musical genre that is not typically encountered within the Calvin campus.
The DJs who will be spinning at the event will be DJ King James. DJ King James is a Calvin alumni who graduated last year. KJ was known for holding raves on Calvin’s campus while he was a student here.
The second DJ will be Jaydub, from Buffalo, N.Y. He is known to be a huge supporter of the college music scene, so his presence should be perfect Friday night. He has recently hosted a mix show on the local radio station 1680-AM.
The event has been organized by the Student Activities Office. There will be free food and beverages for all of those in attendance. The message the DJs hope to relay is peace in a time of chaos.
Justin Kent, a member of the Student Activities Board and an organizer for the event said, “It should be a lot of fun and a chance to experience good deejaying in a safe environment.”
The dance will take place in the Commons Annex from 10 p.m. to midnight.
