Campus Safety Report

Wednesday 12/16/98
-At 7:57 a.m. Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance south of the Physical Education Building. A woman was reported to have fallen and was complaining of an arm injury. The victim requested an ambulance and was transported to Spectrum Health East for further treatment. Friday 12/18/98
-At 11:00 a.m. a staff member reported a missing computer for the reception desk in the Spoelhof College Center Lobby. The computer was last seen at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 1998.

-At 11:10 p.m. Campus Safety observed a vehicle driving recklessly in the Fine Arts Center parking lot, several walkways by the Residence Halls, and on the lawn area near the Kalsbeek/Huizinga parking lot.

 

The license number of the vehicle was obtained and the owner contacted. The owner stated that his son had the vehicle and that he would take care of the situation.

Monday 12/07/98 -At 2:58 p.m. a student reported that at 10:30 a.m. he parked his vehicle in the west parking lot. The student stated that when he returned to the vehicle at 1:20 p.m. he found the driver’s side front tire flat. The student said that he found a cut in the side wall of the tire apparently caused by someone cutting the tire with a knife. The student stated that he had a suspect but could not prove that this person caused the damage.

Thursday 12/10/98 -At 5:48 p.m. a student in Schultze Hall reported that sometime between 1:30 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 1998 three Nerf Aerostorm guns were taken from her residence hall room. Friday 12/11/98 -At 10:57 a.m. Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in the Library. A student was complaining of abdominal pain. The victim indicated additional medical assistance was not needed and the victim was assisted to their residence hall room.

Sunday 12/13/98 -At 10:15 p.m. a student reported that she was involved in a medical incident on Saturday, December 12, 1998 at 12:15 a.m. The student stated that she had struck her head on a loft and had suffered a large cut on her head and had lost consciousness for an undetermined period of time. The victim stated that she had been taken to Spectrum Health East by her friends.

Tuesday 12/22/98 -A Woodland Mall employee reported that she parked her vehicle in the East Beltline parking lot at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, 1998. The employee stated that when she returned to the vehicle at 9:30 p.m. she found the radio antenna had been broken off of the vehicle.

Wednesday 12/23/98 -A student reported that at 2:30 a.m. he parked his vehicle in the parking area west of Alpha Residence Hall. The student stated that when he returned to the vehicle at 10:15 a.m. he found that the passenger door window was broken and a portable CD player was missing from the vehicle.

Friday 12/25/98 -At 3:26 p.m. Campus Safety investigated an unauthorized entry into Kalsbeek/Huizinga Residence Hall. The student involved was identified and the information turned over to the Dean’s Office for further action.

Wednesday 01/06/99 -A Food Service employee reported that on Thursday, December 31, 1998 he placed a commercial style mixer in a storage room near the west entrance of the dining room. The employee stated that when he returned for the mixer on Wednesday 01/06 he found the mixer missing.

Friday 01/08/99 -At 5:17p.m. Campus Safety investigated a two vehicle accident in the southwest parking lot. An eastbound vehicle was struck by a north bound vehicle causing damage to the northbound vehicle.

Saturday 01/09/99 -At 10:52 a.m. Campus Safety investigated a two vehicle accident at the entrance of the Kalsbeek/Huizenga parking lot. A vehicle exiting the parking lot was struck by a southbound vehicle on the roadway causing damage to both vehicles.
-At 11:10 a.m. Campus Safety investigated a 911 call that originated from an apartment in Lambda Residence Hall. A resident there had dialed 911 to report that her roommate was still suffering from an injury she had received with tobogganing the night before. The student was transported by ambulance to Metropolitan Hospital for further treatment.
-At 1:16 p.m. Campus Safety investigated a two vehicle accident on the east side of the Physical Education Building. A vehicle pulled out of the circle drive and was struck by a westbound vehicle on the roadway causing damage to both vehicles.
-At 2:16 p.m. a student reported that at midnight Saturday morning he had left his Sony Discman player in the Jellema Reading Room of Heimenga Hall.The student stated that when he returned at 2:00 p.m. Saturday the player was missing.
-At 11:20 p.m. Campus Safety observed a subject in the parking lot north of Theta/Epsilon parking lot kicking a vehicle. The subject observed Campus Safety approaching and fled into Phi/Chi Residence Hall. A check of the vehicle showed that the front passenger door was dented in. The owner was contacted and stated that she had no idea who would have done the damage to her vehicle.
